Short Attention? Math that Works!

Math Books.

Math Workbooks.

So many to choose from!

Finding the right curriculum for your struggling learners can be difficult, especially for those with ADHD. For them, focusing on math can be strenuous and boring--not a good combination. My oldest (recently diagnosed with ADHD--primarily inattentive) cannot complete 1 normal-page of math work in any decent amount of time . . . at least not without me continuing to prompt and encourage him. He would rather talk to me about random things that pop into his brain.

My youngest (ADHD-combined) finds that his brain gets too worn out. It takes a lot of work for him to think through the math problems. Of course, it has gotten slightly easier with age and maturity. The problem lies in the amount of problems that most typical curriculum offers. Even many free worksheets on the Internet give rows and rows of addition or subtraction problems. This simply wears on a young ADHD student.

Worksheets that Work

My oldest has struggled through the typical curriculum designed for his grade. I've had to shorten his work assignment in order to prevent an overload on his brain. Now that he's been officially diagnosed with ADHD, this helps me to understand why he struggled so much. (I can also now help him in the future by finding the right type of curriculum for him.)

To help ease my youngest into the strenuous math that we often put on our children, I knew I had to create something different. I knew the curriculum that my eldest did would not work. So I set about creating a 1st Grade Math Curriculum that would work, one that would not be as weighty in problems. My curriculum still teaches the same material, the worksheets are simply not as lengthy.

Teachers Pay Teachers

Thanks to Teachers Pay Teachers you can easily purchase this material at my online store. Many have already purchased the products, finding them very helpful. Here are some of the most popular 1st Grade Math Packets:

1st Grade Measurement #1 and #2

This is, by far, the most popular packet! It is simplistic, easy print and large, colorful pictures. It also comes with an "I Can" poster to help teach young students.

Since the popularity of this packet, I have added a continuation...

This 2nd packet introduces centimeters, estimation, and liquid measurements while also reviewing inches.

For those interested in purchasing BOTH packets, you can grab this NO PREP Bundle and save $1.60!

Place Value and Addition

This packet is another popular one. It is filled with colorful cubes to help students learn about the tens and ones place. For only $2, you get 7 wonderful worksheets to help your struggling learners!

Math doesn't have to be hard, and it doesn't have to be time-consuming. Check out my TpT store for more great packets!
